Fiona McNeill

Fiona McNeill graduated with honours from Glasgow University in Theology and Religious Studies in 2010. Whilst at University Fiona was a member of the Kelvin Ensemble and the Glasgow University Celtic music group.

Fiona has been a member of many different orchestras including the National Youth String Orchestra of Scotland, West of Scotland Schools Symphony Orchestra and a former member of the Inverclyde Senior Strings Orchestra.

Fiona is heavily involved in multicultural events, especially one which is held bi-annually, to promote the works of Robert Burns and Bangladeshi national poet Kazi Nazrul. She has written music to Nazrul’s poetry and has appeared on Bangladeshi television.

As a singer/songwriter and musician, Fiona has supported Duncan Chisholm & Ivan Drever, The Groanbox Boys, The Wherries, Ditirambo, Duo Cajon and many others. She has performed at many functions as a solo artist treating audiences to many of her own adaptations of popular songs as well as some of her own creations. Fiona, with her charm and wit, also hosts the Royal Gourock Yacht Club's regular Open Mic nights.

Fiona along with her sister, Alison, take music into schools to promote Scottish traditional music as well as classical music.

Fiona's plays the violin, guitar, mandolin, tenor banjo, drums (full kit) and the Celtic Bodhran and has recently taken up the bass guitar.
